Henry V (1989)


Henry V es una película de 1989 dirigida por Kenneth Branagh basada en la novela sobre el Rey Enrique V de William Shakespeare. Branagh actúa en el rol principal, junto a Derek Jacobi como el Coro (narrador). Brian Blessed, Ian Holm, Christian Bale, Paul Scofield, Jimmy Yuill y Emma Thompson son parte del elenco, junto a los cameos de Robbie Coltrane y Judi Dench como Falstaff y Mistress Quickly, ambos importantes personajes en otras obras de teatro de Shakespeare. Entre otros perasonajes menores, "Michael Williams", es interpretado por el actor Michael Williams, el esposo de Judi Dench en la vida real.

Elegida entre las 100 películas pro catolicismo por la National Catholic Register en 2004.

Recepción

Henry V fue casi universalmente clamada por los críticos por la actuación y dirección de Branagh, por la accesibilidad de su lenguaje shakespereano y particularmente por su música de Patrick Doyle, quien primera vez componía, interpretada por la Birmingham Symphony Orchestra y conducida por Simon Rattle.

Phyllis Dalton ganó el Premio de la Academia Oscar a Mejor Diseño de Vestuario, y Kenneth Branagh fue nominado en su debut como director al Premio de la Academia Oscar a Mejor Director y al Oscar a Mejor Actor.
